The rumors for Apple's upcoming 2021 iPhones have been leaking from numerous sources for the last several months, and we've now got a clear idea of most of the likely specs of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, and iPhone 13 mini.
We also have a clear picture of the likely design of these phones and have seen various images leaked to the media.
As late September, Apple's traditional release time, approaches, the number of rumors and leaks is increasing rapidly. Among them, we have compiled what we find noteworthy and are now sharing them with you.
The projected release date for the iPhone 13 series
We are not yet sure of the announcement date for Apple's new flagship phones, but if Apple follows its tradition, the possible target date for the event is Tuesday, September 14. The actual launch will most likely take place within a week or two after this announcement.
iPhone 13 Price
Although many expect the prices to track with the iPhone 12 range, DigiTimes, a Taiwan-based website that shares rumors leaked from Apple's Asian supply chain, claims that the upcoming iPhone 13 phones will be more expensive compared to their predecessors. They think it's because to compensate for the increased costs of chip production from TSMC, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, but this has not been confirmed yet.
The projected design for iPhone 13 Phones
According to rumors and leaks, Apple will continue with four models in 2021 iPhones. Although we won’t know for sure what Apple will call these new iPhones until their release day, the company is expected to be sticking with the same approach it used with iPhone 12 Series. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg expects Apple to use very similar naming in its new flagship phones: 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro, a low-cost 6.1- inch iPhone 13, and 5.4-inch iPhone 13 Mini.
Since Apple marked a substantial technology and design overhaul in the 2020 iPhone models, it is not expected to make major design changes in its 2021 iPhones. In terms of their screen sizes and resolutions, iPhone 13 phones are projected to look alike to their predecessors. However, the rumors says that iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will have 120Hz refresh rates, meaning that the images will look smoother on these screens compared to those in previous iPhones. It will also allow improved gameplay and video playback.
If the rumors about the cameras in these 2021 iPhones are correct, you can expect considerably larger camera modules on them. The leaks by Sonny Dickson, a reviewer of consumer, automotive tech, and Apple products, projects the iPhone 13 phones will have a diagonal camera arrangement.
The images of a 3D-printed iPhone 13 Pro mockup, shared by Japanese site Mac Otakara in April show a smaller notch, a repositioned earpiece and the front-facing camera moved to the left. According to this rumor, the iPhone 13 Pro will feature a notch that is 5.35mm in height, as compared to 5.30mm in iPhone 12 counterpart, and 26.80mm in width, down from 34.83mm.
The expected batteries in iPhone 13
Again, if the leaks for iPhone 13 Pro Max are correct, we’ll see a notably larger battery in it: iPhone 13 is expected to have a 3,095mAh cell compared to a 2,805mAh cell in iPhone 12. As I believe that you know what it will mean: longer lasting iPhones! The only drawback of this new feature will be increased thickness, thus heavier weight of these phones.
Colors for upcoming 2021 iPhones
The recent leaks point out that there will be four colors for iPhone 13 Pro: silver, black, sunset gold, and rose gold. We’ve also heard that there could be two new colors on Pro Series: matte black and bronze or orange color. These rumors have been made by Max Weinbach, a young freelance tech writer. He also expects the regular iPhone 13 could come in pink, but he doesn’t have strong sources for that claim, he says.
